The BYOD iPad Program has run at Gumdale State School since 2016. As a school, we believe firmly in the importance of embedding technology into learning. We are committed to supporting and empowering our students to maximise their full potential. Technology is an important tool in supporting student learning and developing the skills they require for their future.
Currently, all students in Years 1-6 are part of our BYOD program. Prep classes will join the program in Semester 2 2021 (as endorsed by the School Council and the P&C).
iPad purchasing options
1. Purchase your own iPad for your child to use. The device must support an iOS14 operating system. If purchasing a new iPad we recommend an iPad 10.2 inch, 8th Generation, Wi-Fi with capacity of 128GB. Parents/carers will need to purchase the apps required for each year level, provide a sturdy case & screen protector and have your own insurance (if you choose). Students will access the internet via school WiFi only. Devices with 4G capability will require the SIM card to be removed.
2. Join the Student Resource Scheme. The cost of the iPad Student Resource Scheme is $250/year (approximately) to access a school iPad whilst at school (this includes apps, administration and maintenance cost, hire of the device, case and screen protector provided by the school). Please discuss this option at your enrolment interview with the Deputy Principal.
Purchase your device directly and save on a new iPad for your studies.
