​​​Gumdale State School is a coeducational state primary school that caters for students from Prep to Year 6. Currently about 1140 students attend the school. Our students live predominantly in the surrounding Brisbane suburbs of Wakerley and Gumdale. The catchment map can be viewed here​.

BYOD iPad Program

All students from Prep to Year 6 participate in a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) iPad program, integrating technology into their learning experience.​

Wellbeing Program

​​Our in-house wellbeing program GROW Well ​understands that learning and wellbeing are connected. The GROW Well Positive Education mindset, explicit strength-based curriculum and approach to social and emotional learning ensures our students are supported to reach their full potential in learning, personal development and character.

Extra- Curricular Activities

At Gumdale State School we provide students with opportunities to participate in a range of extra-curricular activities, including: 

  • Signature Programs for students in Years 4-6
  • Interschool Sport for students in Years 5-6
  • Sailing and watersports program for students in Years 2-6 through our partnership with Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron
  • Swim squad and lessons in partnership with Aquatic Achievers
  • Representation at Qld All Schools Carnivals in Touch Football and Netball
  • Sport Aerobics
  • Equestrian Program in partnership with Kurshonbrooke Lodge
  • School camps for students in Years 4-6
  • Instrumental music camps and choir workshops
  • School based clubs including: Art Club, Choir, Coding Club, Game Rangers, Kitchen Garden Club, Drama Club and Run Club​.

Our school fosters a strong sense of community and provides numerous resources for parents and students, including SchoolTV and the Community Support Program.
