During 7 years at Gumdale State School, students have the unique opportunity to engage in music.
Choir
Gumdale State School has a proud choral tradition, showcasing student talent across all year levels. There are currently three choirs which students can join.
- Gumnuts (Year 2)
- Gumleaves (Years 3-4)
- Gumtrees (Years 5-6)
The choirs have opportunities throughout the year to perform at official school functions and community events. Past events have included the Manly Halloween Street Party and the Wakerley Christmas Carols.
Instrumental
Band
Enrolling in Gumdale's Instrumental Music Program gives students the opportunity to join the Beginner Band in Year 4 and then follow on with the Intermediate and Senior Bands. It includes access to small group lessons on a weekly basis.
Throughout the year the Bands perform at school functions including lunchtime concerts, as well as combining with other schools in the district to participate in workshops and music camps.
The Instrumental Music Handbook is a wealth of information about the program.
Costs
Tuition is free for all students, however, there are ongoing costs associated with being in the program such as consumable items, method book/s and annual
Student Resource Scheme contributions:
- SRS Annual Music Contribution of $50 applies to all students in the Instrumental and Choir Program.
- SRS Annual Hire Fee of $100 applies to all students using school instruments.
