The BYOD iPad Program has run at Gumdale State School since 2016. As a school, we believe firmly in the importance of embedding technology into learning. We are committed to supporting and empowering our students to maximise their full potential. Technology is an important tool in supporting student learning and developing the skills they require for their future.
Since 2021, all students in Prep to Year 6 are part of our BYOD program.
iPad purchasing options
1. Purchase your own iPad for your child to use. The device must support an iOS15 operating system. If purchasing a new iPad we recommend a 10th Generation iPad 64GB or 256GB. For more detailed information regarding suitable devices, please refer to our
iPad Specs and Equipment List 2025. Parents/carers will need to purchase the apps required for each year level, provide a sturdy case and screen protector and have your own insurance (if you choose). Students will access the internet via school WiFi only. Devices with 4G capability will require the SIM card to be removed.
2. Join the Student Resource Scheme. The cost includes all year level apps, iPad hire for the year and a protective case. The costs for the program vary between year levels as prices are dependent on cost of apps and required case and equipment. Please see pricing for 2025 below. Please note that spaces in the iPad hire program are limited and based on stock availability. If you are interested in hiring an iPad through the school, please discuss this option at your enrolment interview with the Deputy Principal, and send an email to
