With the development of COVID-19, we are looking to make adjustments to support social distancing recommendations. These directions are all about supporting a national effort to contain and slow the spread of COVID-19. Each one of us, and our school, play a vital role in this effort and I ask for your continued support in this containment effort.
Last week I announced the cancellation of our school assemblies for the remainder of the term. Beginning today, all incursions, excursions, religious instruction and Parent Teacher Interviews will be cancelled for the remainder of Term 1. In addition, the whole school Cross Country activity scheduled for Friday 27 March has been postponed. Specialist teachers will communicate directly with families whose children are involved in extracurricular activities.
Refunds for these learning activities will be credited to parent accounts.
Digital platforms and subscriptions are being reviewed and updated this week to ensure that online learning content is available for students.
As our response to COVID-19 is all about containment, I continue to ask all families to pay extra attention to health and hygiene measures employed at home with your children, particularly handwashing. You can be assured we are reinforcing this message at school, reminding and supporting students to wash their hands with soap. We are also limiting shared materials and resources. Students must not attend school if they are unwell.
Students arriving at school from 8:30am onwards are to move directly to their line-up areas outside classrooms.
I will continue to provide communication as Australia’s response to COVID-19 evolves. Thank you for your vigilance and support in helping us manage this public health issue.
Always our Best,
Phil Savill, Principal
Gumdale State School
