Lunchtime Clubs and Activities

 

Club Name: Japanese bunka (pronounces as Boo nka) club

Club Overview: Ms. McAuliffe and Taki started a Japanese club last year, where students can learn language, traditions, songs and make some Japanese arts to take home. Students are asked to bring their lunches and willingness to learn.

Teacher/s Responsible: Ms. McAuliffe and Taki (Student Welfare)

Year Levels able to attend each term: grade 3 to 6 students

Day/Time: Every Monday 11am-11:45am (Starts week 3)

Location: 3M (H block above the staff room)

 

Club Name: GSS Chess Club

Club Overview: GSS has been running the chess club for the last 4 years and it has been a very popular club at the school. Not only students learn how to play the game but they also develop social skills such as resilience and working well with others. Students are asked to bring their lunches and good manners. Beginners are welcome.

Teacher/s Responsible: Taki (Student Welfare)

Year Levels able to attend each term: Grade 4-6 students on Tuesday and Grade 3 students on Friday

Day/Time: Every Tuesday 11am-11:45am (Grade 4-6) and every Friday 11am-11:45am (Grade 3) starting in week 3

Location: 3W (B block above the tuck shop).

 

Club Name: Hula Hooping

Club Overview: Students learn how to hula hoop on their necks, arms, waists and legs. Limited hula hoops are brought out so the students learn to take turns and share.

Teacher/s Responsible: Taki (Student Welfare)

Year Levels able to attend each term: Prep to grade 6 depending on the areas where the hula hooping is held

Day/Time: Every Monday 1:30pm-1:45pm Every Tuesday 1:30-1:45 starting in week 3

Location: New Oval (Monday) and Prep Play Area (Tuesday)
