Osprey Cup

Gumdale State School had entered 4 teams into the Osprey cup at Wellington Point State High School during week 4. Our junior teams participated very competitively with the boys narrowly losing the final in a drop off to Birkdale State School. The girls also played very well all day in hot conditions ending up in 3rd place. Our senior teams showed some quality display of touch football with the girls unfortunately going down in the final 3-1 to a very quick Wellington Point State School and the boys finishing 3rd with some tough opposition from the other schools. Even though the day provided us with very hot conditions, all students showed great teamwork and represented the school brilliantly. Well done to all students!

Sports Gala Days

Gala Days are a great opportunity for students with a variety of skills and abilities to compete in a fun atmosphere. It is an enjoyable way to socialise with peers and develop a sense of commitment to a team and school community whilst increasing the children's fitness & natural skills.

All year 4-6 students who participated in these days came back exhausted and smiling.

OZ-Tag - Well done to our Senior Girl Oz-Tag Team who won their Grand Final.sportsimage1.jpg

AFL - Both Team 1 and Team 2 should be proud of the efforts they have put into their season this year.

The outcome of the season was: Team 1 won 11 of their 12 games over the two Gala days. The competition was so close that the winner went down to the wire with count back of the scores.  This resulted in Team 1 proudly coming runners up by 20 points in the Division 1 competition.

Team 2 were only warming up on the first Gala day!  They hit their straps on the second Gala day winning all of their games and subsequently winning the Division 2 competition, as well as the Silver Football Trophy.

Both teams should be extremely proud of themselves and their overall outcome!

Basketball - The Gumdale Basketball Teams not only improved their basketball skills sportsimage2.jpg

and confidence on the court, which was a result from the assisted Basketball Clinics on Friday, but their sportsmanship was outstanding on the day.  Team support and moral was very high, especially after such successful results. Well done everyone!
