Swimming Lessons

Swimming lessons for Years 3-6 continue at Chandler Aquatic Centre.  It is fantastic to see the skills and confidence develop in only 3 weeks of lessons. Students are reminded to name ALL clothing including swimming caps and to remember to bring their goggles.

Please note there will be no swimming lessons on Wednesday 16 August due to the Brisbane Show Holiday. These lessons will be conducted on Monday 14 August.

In term 3, year 5 students in 5H and 5R are participating in a ‘Tackers Introduction’ learn to sail program led by qualified instructors at the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron (RQYS). Students will learn the basics of sailing, learning boat handling skills, and the essential background sailing theory that will allow them the freedom of sailing the small boats with guidance from the RQYS Instructors.

Year 3 students in 3W, 3S and 3P also have the opportunity to participate in a learning to stand up paddle board program led by qualified instructors at the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron (RQYS).  Students will attend 2 sessions in Term 3 - Weeks 8 & 9:

      • 3W – Tuesdays 29 August and 5 September
      • 3S – Wednesdays 30 August and 6 September

Sport Aerobics News

Last Saturday five Gumdale State School Aerobics teams competed at the FISAF Australia National Championships at Chandler Theatre. All teams had been training really hard in the lead up to this competition and came out and showed Australia just how much they love the sport.

The teams competed against some tough competition, with teams from QLD, NSW and VIC. Gumdale State School Roar and Gumdale State School Force both came away with a gold medal and are now the 2017 National Champions. We are so proud of all the teams that competed at the Championships.
