Habitat Heroes Prep Excursion

12/07/2017

Dear Parents/Caregivers,

As part of our History studies into ‘Special Places’ Prep will be spending the day at the Wynnum Waterfront.  This will be a full school day excursion starting from Gumdale State School at 8:45am. We will then travel by bus to William Gunn Jetty at the Wynnum Waterfront.  Students will be returning to school by bus at approximately 3:00pm.  Pick-up will be at the prep classrooms as usual.

Learning experiences will include:

  • A guided boat trip with teachers from Queensland Educations Moreton Bay Environmental Centre.
  • Observations of the features of ‘Special Places’ and the care of our natural environment at the Wynnum Waterfront

What to bring

Students participating will be required to bring a small backpack, lunch and morning tea in lightweight containers and a water bottle.  They will need to wear full school uniform, non-slip walking shoes and a hat (please apply sunscreen before coming to school).

Parent Helpers

We would love to share this exciting day with parent helpers.  If you are able to assist, you will need to provide your own transport to and from the locations and will need to inform your child’s teacher of your interest.

Wet weather arrangements

If the day is likely to be effected by wet weather the excursion will be postponed until a later date.  A decision will be announced on the day via the school website.

If you wish your child to participate please fill  permission slip and return to your classroom teacher by the 25 July, 2017.
